Tackling Education Inequality: IEA Trust's Sustainable Approach

By addressing the underlying factors that hinder equitable learning, we aim to foster an environment where every individual has the chance to thrive educationally, regardless of their background or circumstances.
The programs run by the IEA Trust are as follows:

Family sponsorships for families (mother or grandmother) having two or three children: we give money to pay part of the cost of studies

Scholarship for families having a single child: we pay in full the school fees directly

Scholarship for very deserving girls: we pay in full the school fees directly until class Standard 12

Evening free tuitions for local children Class St 1 to St 10 (Monday to Friday 6 pm to 8 pm (every school day) )

Free Creche : to enable young mothers to work and give young children their first education .
From 9 : am to 5 : pm – Monday to Friday - all year long

Summer classes : Revision of learning in first maths and English – Recreational, sporting and artistic activities

Periodic medical checkup : for the children (eyes, ears, teeth)

Regular Awareness meetings : for the mothers and children
After the disastrous period of COVID where the children had virtually no schooling for two years and are very far behind in their learning, we want to focus our efforts on opening new free tuitions centres and creches.
We will continue the current sponsorships until the children complete their studies, but we won’t be taking on any new ones.
LOCATIONS :
We operate from our head office in Puducherry – Mairie Oulgaret n° 4 Papan Sandhu and in seven different locations, through eleven separate units, each headed by a manager.
STAFF :
- We have 28 employees . They all come from sponsored or very poor families.
- 1 full-time accounts manager
- 1 full-time creche manager
- 1 full-time creche assistant
- 21 part-time teachers for the five Tuitions Centers open every school day from 6 to 8 pm
- 4 part-time cleaners

Responsibilities: The head office manages and oversees all activities and units, including accounting, administration, beneficiary selection, relationship monitoring, and interactions with government and sponsors.

Operational Activities : The unit also runs an operational sub-unit named "Pondicherry Unit," which is responsible for Operation of a free tuition center catering to approximately 20 children, managed by Mr. Vijay Karthick with the assistance of three part-time employees.
- Unit 2 – Chennai Unit

Location : This small historic unit is situated off-center in Chennai.

Sponsorship Focus : The unit primarily sponsors families from a slum that has been dismantled.

Office and Employees : The unit does not have an office or any employees. Instead, it is directly managed by the Managing Trustee based in Pondicherry.
- Unit 3 – Karaikal Unit

Location : This second small historic unit is located at 1, Mela theru, Darmapuram, behind Easwaran kovil, Karaikal 609 602.

Sponsorship: The unit sponsors 18 families residing in the surrounding villages.

Free Tuition Center: The unit operates a free tuition center for local children, approximately 40 in number.

Free Creche:The unit runs a free creche for approximately 10 children, aged 2 to 4 years old.

The creche is open every working day from 9 am to 5 pm.

Free Evening Tuition Center: The unit also operates a free evening tuition center for local children.

There are about 15 regular and 75 irregular students who attend these sessions.

- Unit 7 – Pillayar Kuppam Unit

Evening Tuition :The unit offers evening tuition sessions every schooling day from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Number of Children : There are about 90 irregular students and approximately 15 regular students who attend these evening tuition sessions.
